Living History Homestead
Come walk around the Fulmer's Farmstead and see the JONES HOUSE and the DUNNAM HOUSE. All of the buildings within the homestead are over 100 years old and are furnished full of antiques in the home style setting. You can see some of the history such as butter making in an antique churn and GRANNY ELSIE making homemade biscuits on a wood stove. If you ask her nicely, she might give you a sample. She can also use the wood stove for making jelly or pickling peppers. The quilteres can be seen putting a quilt in the frames for quilting. If you like, sit and watch or feel free to take up a needle and get involved. MS TRACY demonstrates the art of lye soap making. MS PAULA gather the eggs in the chicken yard and you can help. Visit the victory garden and talk to MR GAIDEN about what vegetables are growing now. MR BUFFORD, our herbman, can talk about what ails you and a natural cure using herbs. Stay around and they will let you try your hand at milking "rosey"the cow. There will be draft horse farming demonstrations, a loom weaver, and a working spinning wheel. All of the wonderful past comes to life all week-end long.
